Blurred social media boundaries with youth workers

A Youth Engagement Practitioner has recently published some interesting survey results relating to Digital Engagement, describe by Carl Haggerty.

I find it important to separate personal and professional social media use – many people I work with aren’t interested in a stream of pictures of my daughter, and family members don’t mind missing out on links to examples of good or bad advertising.

Just as you treat your audience groups differently in a professional sense, you should apply the same thinking to your own online activity.

Within this group there was a real sense of the concern around the blurring of professional boundaries and potential imposition on the privacy of young people. This continues to be one of the challenges facing people and is one of the most common I still hear at the council and rightly so.
