Unusual politeness

This morning something strange happened.

On a crowded Northern Line train a seat was left empty. the three men standing over it were all too polite to even acknowledge the seat which was left vacant at Angel and it was still empty when I left at Old Street.

How peculiar.

Second hand sale online

Charities have been running online shops for some time, and beyond the basic sales of fundraising items in recent years they have moved to offering real life solutions (or ethical giving) to their cause - buy a goat for an african village, teach a classroom with a supply of textbooks.

Brand new look, same old author

I've applied a new theme to the blog to bring together a few ideas I've had about the site. The new theme is called Agregado and is a free offering commissioned by Smashing Magazine created by Darren Hoyt and Matt Dawson.

In the previous design of the blog I had used a feed syndication pluggin called ...

Long lost story of unbelievable bulk film loader.

I read a story in September that was quite unbelievable. Mike Mitchell, who writes for the Online Photographer was sent a package from China by a fan of his. But the details involved of how, why, and what are quite remarkable. It gives you a hope for the little things ...

Charity impact reporting. All online and interactive.

Yes, posts have been pretty scarce recently, and like 90% of bloggers this is not intended and I plan to get back on the blogging roll as soon as possible. Honest. Really.

But my writing hasn't just faded for no worthwhile reason, I have just been working on a new ...

I like the music music

Oh, now this one I really like. I read about a lot of websites offering new services, new takes on an old theme, answers to problems which weren't really there, and lots of "remember how you used to...".

This time I have actually come across a really great site. I have ...

What does Epping Forest, Cows and the North Circular have in common?

I read a post by Ham on London Daily Photo called How Now Brown Cow. He writes about the south of Epping Forest and talks of memories which match my own so well I feel as if I could have writen his words.

In summary he explains why there are cattle ...

Odd maps, making food and emergency drinks

This is a post I started writing a month ago but things have been busy recently. Better late than never...

There's been quite a few sites and features which have caught my eye over the last few days, so here's a little summary of what's stood out for me:

Shiny Shiny's website ...

This is true love - you think this happens every day?!?

Name the film which the title of this post is from and I'll owe you a beer. But more important than that is new that I have recently proposed to my girlfriend and we are to get married. This is the very best of news (to quote a sketch I ...

Top ten places to wonder around in London

I often read lists of top ten things to do, books to read, films to see. A London focused list of Top Ten Summer Outings on TheOldWorld made me think that my most reliable favorite outing is walking around the city with my camera and photographing whatever takes my interest.

So ...
